ABOUT US

My mission at 99 Physio is to help people get back to doing what they want to do as soon as possible and learn how to stay pain-free so they can thrive in all aspects of life.

My Approach

My goal isn’t just to get you pain-free. I’ve had injuries myself, and it affected me mentally, financially and took time away from things I loved. So these experiences have taught me to apply a more holistic, multi-dimensional approach to ensure you don’t get injured again.

At 99 Physio, I help people recover and be pain-free forever by following a simple, three step approach.

First, I listen to your problem, analyze your lifestyle and identify the potential aggravators that have caused your pain in the first place. The idea is that if we audit and identify these triggers, we can change your environment so that when you return back to your routine, you don’t get re-injured again.

Two, I use my functional assessment method that focuses on getting to the root cause of your problem as quick as I can. My preference is not to use fancy jargon and medical diagnoses. I want you to fully understand what went wrong in your body and why you have the pain you have. With understanding, there is less fear and uncertainty and more autonomy and confidence with yourself.

Three, I use a combination of hands-on therapy, dry needling and exercise rehabilitation techniques to get you moving pain-free, then utilising my 11 years of exercise knowledge to rebuild your strength safely to prevent this from ever happening again.

This is the 99 Physio approach…

Jonathan’s Story

When I was a teenager, I developed a year long chronic knee injury from heavy squatting with terrible form that resulted in me not being able to pick up a tissue from the ground with excruciating pain. After spending hundreds of dollars on multiple physios and seeing minimal results, I was faced with the decision to live the pain forever at 20 years old or figure a way out. After a long painful rehab, I was able to be pain-free, but it also made me realise how many people would be in a similiar position, having poor experiences with physios and then deciding to give up. Soon after I decided to pursue and completed a Bachelors of Exercise Physiology and Masters of Physiotherapy.

Experience

I have 8 years of clinical experience as an exercise physiologist and a physiotherapist, as well as 11 years of lifting weights in the gym. I’ve has competed in bodybuilding at the national level (IFBB Men’s Physique), ran the HOKA half marathon and has played representative touch football and volleyball.

Mission

My goal is to help people get back to doing what they want to do as soon as possible and learning how to stay pain-free so they can thrive in all aspects of life. Health is really the foundation of so many things. You need health to have a long career, a family and to travel.

I also believe in a holistic approach to treatment, taking account not only the physical injury but how mindset and social factors play a role in the individual’s pain. My biggest influence to my style of physiotherapy is Dr Gabor Mate.

Beyond Physiotherapy

Outside of physio, I like to go to electronic music events, run, sprint, play the drums and dance salsa. Life’s meant to be enjoyed, not just spent in pain and being productive all the time.
